My circumstance with niggardly trimarans is restricted to the Windrider 16, Windrider 17, and the Hobie Danger Ait (all three of which I have owned), also infrequent lodger sailing on folding tris designed by Ian Farrier (F-27, F-31, Sprint), L-7’s designed by Mike Leneman, and different tris designed by Phil Slocum. Like most comparisons between boats, cogitation should be accustomed first to the use to which the sailboat will be put: whether cruising, day sailing, trailering, socializing, etc. My own preferred use is for shy of sails out of Marina del Rey, California; but for each of the old times 15 years, I have also wearied a month (Nov./Dec.) of miraculous sailing down in southern Baja California, Mexico.
